Site Presentation ... an observatory located at 1500m altitude
The observatory was created in 2008, located in Chile in Ovalle region, specifically in the Rio Hurtado valley. We are about 500km north of Santiago and just south of the professional Gemini South and Cerro Tololo observatories. This is one of the very last zones in the world still preserved from light pollution with regulations in place on the subject. The observatory is situated on a 9-hectare plot at an altitude of 1550m. Its privileged position in the Rio Hurtado valley gives it very low turbulence conditions throughout the year and more than 320 observable nights per year.
All equipment on-site operates on batteries charged by solar panels. The high-speed internet connection allows for 24/7 equipment access and large data processing. The observatory currently hosts 7 robotic telescopes and 2 telescopes for on-site use.

The various offers are:
- For any person or small group wanting to spend a few days in a haven of peace at 1500m altitude, different cottages are available throughout the year. Full board or access to a kitchen can be requested. Observation equipment is available for observation evenings. The rate starts from 50€/day.
- For telescope hosting, the cost is 450€/month including all maintenance services. For the owner of a hosted telescope, we offer full board for 40€/day.
- All-inclusive stays with guided tours of professional observatories in the region and the opportunity to use the available equipment such as a 520mm telescope and small mounts for wide-field imaging.
